Bronchiolitis obliterans aka popcorn lung

It was first noted in 2001 in workers at an American plant that manufactured microwavable popcorn. The Colorado man, who reportedly ate two or three bags of microwave extra-butter-flavored popcorn each day for ten years, is the first consumer to develop bronchiolitis obliterans.
Even back then, researchers singled out diacetylEarlier this week, a team of Dutch researchers published a new study in the September issue of the American Journal of Respiratory and Critical Care Medicine, pointing once again to diacetyl as the chemical ingredient most likely to cause bronchiolitis obliterans.

Yicheng lobsters were selected as the most popular cuisine in Hubei. The lobster race, supported by the local government, aims to promote the Yicheng cuisine nationwide and attract more investors.

Dishonest Thai vendors have been selling meat from the highly poisonous puffer fish
disguised as salmon and killed more than 15 people and poisoned a further 115 over the past three years in Thailand.
Puffer fish known as fugu in Japan or Hetun in China is considered an especial delicacy. But the ovaries, liver and intestines of the fish contained a toxin called Tetrodotoxin (TTX) that is formally known as anhydrotetrodotoxin 4-epitetrodotoxin. Even small quantities of TTX can induce respiratory problems that can lead to death, and also there is currently no antidote to the toxin, so many countries have banned it sold on the market.
On the other hand, the puffer fish has led scientists to find an active ingredient of the poison called Tectin, a non-addictive pain-killing drug that is claimed to be some 3000 times stronger than morphine, with effects lasting between eight and 21 days, with no side effects.

Ten cooks of a super food market in Shenyang, northeast China's Liaoning province spent ten hours on finishing the 13-ton giant mooncakes, with ten types of different flavored stuffings, including white lotus seeds, red bean paste and pineapple.
The biggest mooncake, with a diameter of 8.15 meters and height of 20 cm, has a total surface area of 52 sq meters and was baked in a specially prepared big oven, with a diameter of 9 meters.
The moon cake is a traditional Chinese food people enjoy on the Mid-autumn Festival (or the lantern Festival, the 15th day of the eighth month in Chinese lunar calendar is the third most import Chinese festival after Chinese Spring Festival and Yuanxiao Festival), which falls on Sep 25 this year.

Watermelon breeder, Che Yonggao, known as the Watermelon King in his native village, near Fuzhou in east China's Jiangxi Province, showed his conjoined watermelon, which weighs more than 10 kilos, in his field on Monday August 13.
Che has decided to send the watermelon to his local agricultural departments for research, though some melon sellers have offered him several hundred yuan to buy it.

Its owner, An Gui-suo reportedly said he bought the four-year-old goat for 1,000 yuan (131 U.S dollars) from a nearby villager for hybridization half a year ago.
At that time, he doubted if the goat with a pair of large breasts could work, but later, the doubt went away when a female goat gave birth to several lambs.

A piece of melon with flesh still on the rind thought to be as the world's oldest was dugg out by Japanese archaeologists who dugg an excavation site at Moriyama in western Japan.
Based on a radiocarbon analysis, researchers estimate the half-rounded piece of fruit to be about 2,100 years old.
The melon might have been so well-preserved because it was in a vacuum-packed state in a wet layer below the ground, an environment hostile to microorganisms that might otherwise have broken down the remains.
Mr. Xin Guo-liang surprisedly found a red-colored rice field eel among one kilogram of them which he bought from a local farmer in the Ganyuan Town of Deqing County, Zhejiang Province. The gene mutation was believed to be the cause of color change of this rare wild eel which is 130 gram in weight and 40 cm in length. link
