THE TEN LADIES THAT ROCKED THE OSCARS 2011

Yearly the Academy Awards or the Oscars has been giving recognition to the best films of the year. But aside from that, we can never forget the glamour of the Hollywood walk and the red carpet to the Oscars. This year is no different as we see stars line up and parade in front of us. As usual, it is a venue of great fashion most specifically with ladies. Here are my Top 10 ladies which put style wih an ease.

1. Halle Berry
- Halle has always automatically impressed us with her fashion choices on and off the awards shows. And this year was no exception. Donning a crystal enrusted Marchesa gown, she wowed everyone and outshone every girl that night.

2. Reese Witherspoon
- Reese played it simple yet came out elegant and chic. She brought back the old Hollywood with this black and white piece from Giorgo Armani. A-hot!

3. Jennifer Hudson
- A much slimmer and stunning JHud appears in this year's Oscars. Her tangerine ensemble from Versace truly fits her to a "T".

4. Natalie Portman
- Despite having baby bumps, Natalie looked stunning in her Rodarte gown. And who could miss those pair of Jimmy Choo shoes. She was simply prepared to accept her trophy.

5. Anne Hathaway
- Anne surely rocked the night with numerous outfit changes but her red vintage Valentino gown was the one that tops it all, She was smoldering hot and sexy.

6. Jennifer Lawrence
- Simple yet striking. This is how I'll describe Jennifer's Calvin Klein red gown. She surely has the goods to don such a nice dress.

7. Sandra Bullock
- Sandra was among the few ones which donned a red gown that night and she did it with ease. Her strapless scarlet gown from Vera Wang was as hot as her.

8. Mandy Moore
- I find Mandy's dress simple yet nice. Though not as fashionable than the other pieces the other stars wore, she still did well in donning the Monique Lhuiller creation.

9. Scarlett Johannson
- I was not really impressed by her hair during the night but heck with it. She still looked amazingly gorgeous with her daring magenta lace gown from Dolce & Gabbane.

10. Mila Kunis
- Although she was not among the nominees for the night, Mila still grabbed attention. Thanks to her lacy lavender set created by Elie Saab.

SERGIO RAMOS PROFILE

Sergio Ramos García born 30 March 1986 is a Spanish footballer who plays for Real Madrid and Spain.

Mainly a right back, he can perform equally as a central defender. After emerging through Sevilla FC's youth system, he went on to be a defensive mainstay for both Real Madrid and the Spanish national team, gaining his first cap at the age of 18.

Club career

Sevilla
Born in in Camas, Seville, Andalusia, Ramos began his career at local side Sevilla FC, emerging through the club's youth system alongside Jesús Navas and Antonio Puerta. He made his first team - and La Liga - debut on 1 February 2004, coming on as a second half substitute in a 0–1 loss at Deportivo de La Coruña.

In the 2004–05 season, Ramos appeared in 31 games as Sevilla finished sixth and qualified to the UEFA Cup, netting in home fixtures against Real Sociedad (2–1) and Real Madrid (2–2).

Real Madrid
In the summer of 2005, 19-year old Ramos was purchased by Real Madrid for €27 million, a record for a Spanish teenager. He was the only Spanish player brought in during Florentino Pérez first stint as Real Madrid president.

At the club, Ramos was awarded the number 4 shirt, previously worn by team captain Fernando Hierro. On 6 December 2005, he scored his first goal for the Merengues, in a 2–3 UEFA Champions League group stage loss at Olympiacos FC.

During his first seasons, Ramos played as centre-back, being also used as an emergency defensive midfielder on occasion. However, with the arrival of Christoph Metzelder and Pepe in the 2007–08 season, he was again relocated to right back, whilst displaying a goal-scoring instinct unusual to many defenders, netting more than 20 overall goals in Real Madrid's shirt during his first four seasons combined.
Ramos celebrates with his teammates.

On 4 May 2008, Ramos assisted Gonzalo Higuaín in the 89th minute against CA Osasuna in an eventual 2–1 away win, the match that sealed Real Madrid's 31st league championship. On the final day of the season, he scored twice in a 5–2 home win against already relegated Levante UD, one through a header and another after an individual effort, taking his league tally to five.

In the start of the following season, Ramos scored a vital goal in the Spanish Supercup contest against Valencia CF, making it 2–1 to and 4–4 on aggregate, in an eventual 4–2 win (6–5), despite the fact Real Madrid playing with only nine men for a long period of time. Although he experienced a slight dip in form, he returned to his best and on 11 January 2009, scored on an acrobatic volley against RCD Mallorca (3–0 away triumph), continuing his scoring run in the following week, in a 3–1 home win against Osasuna.

Ramos was named in both FIFA and UEFA's 2008 Team of the Year, adding the FIFPro Team of the Year 2007–08 accolade. He also finished 21st in the European Player of the Year nomination for 2008.

Just at the start of the 2009–10 season, Ramos was appointed as one of Real Madrid's four captains of Real Madrid. As Pepe suffered a serious knee injury during the campaign, he was often deployed as central defender, and scored four goals in 33 league contests, but the team eventually came out empty in silverware. On 21 February 2010, he played his 200th official match for the capital team against Villarreal CF (150 in the first division).

In Real Madrid's 0-5 loss to FC Barcelona on 29 November 2010, Ramos was sent off after kicking Lionel Messi from behind, then pushing Carles Puyol in the ensuing melée.[3] After this ejection, he equaled Fernando Hierro's previous record for red cards at the club, having played in 264 fewer games.

International career

In 2004, Ramos became an instant hit for Spain's under-21, for whom he played six international matches. On 26 March 2005, in a 3–0 friendly win over China, in Salamanca, he first appeared for the senior side at only 18 years, 11 months and 361 days of age, making him the youngest player to play for the national team in the last 55 years (he held this record until it was broken by Arsenal's Cesc Fàbregas).

Just seven months later, Ramos scored his first two international goals in a 6–0 away thrashing of San Marino for the 2006 FIFA World Cup qualifiers. He was selected for the final stages in Germany and, after the international retirement of Real Madrid teammate Míchel Salgado, became the undisputed first-choice right-back.

Throughout Spain's UEFA Euro 2008 qualifying campaign, Ramos was a regular member of the starting eleven as the national side finished first in its group, above Sweden. He scored two goals, including one in a 3–1 away win over Denmark, in 11 appearances.

In the tournament's final stages, Ramos played in all matches and minutes, except the 2–1 group stage win against Greece. In the final, his pass nearly set up Marcos Senna's first international goal, but the latter barely missed it by inches. During the celebrations after the 1–0 defeat of Germany, Ramos wore a T-shirt in honor of close friend and former Sevilla teammate Puerta, who died in August 2007.

Ramos was selected in the squad for the 2009 FIFA Confederations Cup in South Africa, as Spain finished in third position. At the 2010 World Cup, held in the same country, he started every game, helping the team keep five clean sheets and reach the final, a 1–0 win against Holland. He topped the tournament's Castrol Performance Index with a score of 9.79

2011 ACADEMY AWARDS WRAP-UP

The 2011 Academy Awards was generally okay but not spectacular. The ratings were even down from last year but still a nice show overall. Aside from Melissa Leo's F**K word on her speech and Anne Hathaway's seemingly endless line of gowns, there were lots of good moments and note-worthy performances that were well rewardedWell, I have my personal favorites and here's my take on some of the categories.

Natalie Portman
BEST PICTURE
- Well, King's Speech took the top prize but I was still keen on "Inception" or "Social Network" to grab the trophy. For me King' Speech was good but its plot is not something really new. "Inception" was really mind blowing and carefully made while "Social Network" was plain witty. Kings ended with 4 awards in total tied with Inception while the FB film grabbed 3.

BEST DIRECTOR
- OF all the categories, this is the only one that actually made me raise my eyebrows. Well, even before the start of the awards, I was expecting this one to be a surprise. Christopher Nolan (Inception) was not even nominated. And with that void, I was rooting for David Fincher to take the plum for "The Social Network".

BEST ACTOR IN A LEAD ROLE
- The competition was not really strong this year as early on Colin Firth is already a shoo-in for the win. Even James Franco's hosting stint this year won't give plus points to enable him to grab the plum.

BEST ACTRESS IN A LEAD ROLE
- Natalie Portman for the win! Yehey! She was just so convincing in "Black Swan" that I was really rooting for her. Only Annette Bening  stood a chance of upsetting her.

BEST ACTOR IN A SUPPORTING ROLE
- Christian Bale took the prize for "The Fighter". This category sees one of the weakest ones in the past years and anyone could have actually taken the plum. My choice was Bale or Mark Ruffalo for "The Kids Are All Right".

BEST ACTRESS IN A SUPPORTING ROLE
- Melissa Leo won as we all know and dropped the F word in her acceptance speech. I have actually favored Amy Adams also from "The Fighter" to take the top prize but well Leo was also a good choice. I still thought Mila Kunis should have been at least been nominated.

BEST ANIMATED FEATURE FILM
- Toy Story all the way. Great film. One classic to always remember. Well deserved win. Although I was quite surprised "Tangled" did not even get a nod.

BEST ORIGINAL THEME SONG
- Toy Story 3's "We Belong Together"took the prize but I was actually rooting for "Tangled's I See The Light". Also notable snob was Cher's song for Burlesque which was not even nominated.

clinton portisClinton Portis Has He Played His Last Game For The Washington Redskins?

On Wednesday of this week, the Washington Redskins placed running back Clinton Portis on the injured reserve list with a groin injury. The move effectively ended Portis's season, and Ryan Torain and Keiland Williams will continue to handle the majority of carries in the Redskins backfield for the rest of the season.

This season has been the second disappointing campaign in a row for Portis. The former Miami Hurricane played just five games this season after only eight games last season.

It seems that the wear and tear of being an NFL running back has caught up with Portis. While he is only 29 years old, Portis had had four seasons of 325 carries or more out of his seven seasons with Washington.

In his first five seasons with Washington, Portis was the centerpiece of the Redskins organization. In four of the first five seasons he had with Washington, Portis exceeded 1,500 total yards rushing and receiving combined. He also average nine touchdowns per season over those first five seasons.

The last two seasons have been a different story as a variety of ailments have kept Portis on the sidelines rather than on the field. Portis has played just 13 games over the last two years and has been limited to 178 carries. While Portis still demonstrated terrific athleticism, power, and agility when he played, his durability issues have understandably become an issue.
82936109_crop_340x234 Jonathan Ernst/Getty Images

After Portis's contract was restructured back in 2008, his last year of guaranteed money fell in 2010. Consequently, Portis will either take a large pay cut to stay with the Redskins or will be wearing a new uniform next season, perhaps both.

The pros of keeping Portis may not outweigh the cons for the Redskins. Firstly, Ryan Torain demonstrated some of his ability to be a featured back with two 100-yard games earlier this season. Additionally, Keiland Williams has displayed some strong running over the last few games replacing the injured Torain.

Another factor could be that teams may be more willing to take a chance on a talent like Portis than Washington who may have grown tired of his durability and fumbling issues over the last few seasons.

Additionally, Portis will start the 2011 NFL season as a 30-year-old, ancient especially considering the mileage behind him. While certainly some team may be willing to take a chance that he could return to form, the Redskins will want to see what Torain and Williams can do over a full season.

Sadly, the Washington chapter of Clinton Portis's career has likely come to an end. Portis still holds the single-season rushing record for the Redskins for his 2005-2006 season when he ran for 1,516 yards. His 6,792 rushing yards trails just John Riggins who had 7,472 rushing yards as a Redskins running back.
