A poor one year boy from Xiamen China, has never shed a tear since his birth - even if he is in great pain or when he's upset. Little Xu was born without eyes and two small dimples with smooth skin are found at the eye regions instead. He has no eyebrows, eyelashes and a small pointed nose that resembles that of a small carrot head is located at the center of his little face.
[Without vision, this toddler whose capacities of mobility and language are normal can only find the fun by throwing his toys to listen the noises.]
Such illness known as cryptophthalmia or the congenital absence of the eyes are very rare, as only over a hundred cases have been discovered.
Professor Liu of Xiamen's Ophthalmology Center had conducted a medical checkup on Xu and discovered that one of his eyes may not be well-developed and hence whether Xu will regain his sight after the "eye opening" surgery is still uncertain.

Update: On the date (June 14) this story was featured, we didn't notice the report that Little Xu had already done an operation on his right eye by Professor Liu On May 29. Although the surgery was quite successful (see the picture below), the capacity of the eye's visual perception is yet to be determined. If Xiao Xu's eyesight cannot be restored, the hospital will transplant an artificial eyelid and an artificial cornea into his eye, to give his eye the proper shape and contour.
