Woman's Neck Fractured After Being Hit By Falling Tibetan Mastiff, a 40kg Dog

The unexpected accident happened in the morning of June 3, when Chongqing resident Mrs. Zhang was on the way to have breakfast. The cannine which is thought to belong to the owner surnamed Dai who lives on the eighth floor of the building died at the scene and the woman's neck was fractured. 

The middle-aged victim surnamed Zhang was on her way to breakfast, together with her husband when she was hit by the Mastiff falling from the roof garden of a nine-story residential building, the report said.

Zhang was rushed to a nearby hospital at Jiulongpo District and later transferred to the No. 1 Affiliated Hospital to Chongqing Medical University for further treatment due to her severe injuries.

The price the black Mastiff was estimated at more than 400,000 yuan (US$52,288).

Tibetan Mastiffs, dubbed the world's "most powerful canine," is renowned as a fearsome guard dog, protectors-to-the-death and revered by some as "the sacred dog of the East." It is also the latest celebrity status symbol sought by stars and wealthy people who need fearless watch dogs in China.
