When one mentions the theatrical play Equus, one can't help but think Daniel Radcliffe and his crowning jewels. Yeah, Mr. Harry Potter himself takes on the lead to this play and took off his clothes, literally showing off everything for art's sake.
Now, under the helm of esteemed theater actor Audie Gemora, Equus made its bow into Philippine shores last July. While it shoot to fame because of the famous nude scene, it's not just that. Based on a rich storyline that borders the somehow disturbing mind of the human being. It circles around the story of Alan Strang, a 17 year-old lad who has been charged with the crime of blinding six horses by gouging out their eyes.
The role was alternately played by Marco MaƱalac and Red Concepcion. Both performances were moving and convincing. Equus was truly a revelation and a success.
Equus played at OnStage - 2/F Greenbelt 1, Ayala Center, Makati City.
