Syracuse Hands Florida 1st Loss
Jackson Has 19 To Lead Orange
Rick Jackson had a career-high 19 points and 11 rebounds Thursday night, helping No.7 Syracuse remain unbeaten with an 85-73 victory over No.10 Florida in the SEC/Big East Invitational in Tampa, Fla.
Andy Rautins scored 18 points and Wes Johnson had 17 points and 10 rebounds for the Orange (9-0).
Syracuse led most of the game, but Florida (8-1) stayed close by making 12 three-pointers.
Kenny Boynton made five threes and led the Gators with 20 points and seven assists.
No. 19 Cincinnati 63, Miami (Ohio) 59: Lance Stephenson scored 17 points and fellow freshman Cashmere Wright had 12 as Cincinnati (6-1) held off Miami (2-7) in Cincinnati. Kenny Hayes had 19 points for Miami.
There were scattered boos early when a photo of former Bearcats football coach Brian Kelly was shown on the videoboard, which was showing the telecast of the game. Kelly left Cincinnati on Thursday to take over at Notre Dame.
Mississippi State 76, DePaul 45: Ravern Johnson scored 14 points and Jarvis Varnado had 12 points and 14 rebounds to lead Mississippi State (6-2) to a rout of DePaul in the SEC/Big East Invitational in Tampa.
Returning to the St. Pete Times Forum, where they made an improbable run to the SEC tournament title in March, the Bulldogs built a 20-point halftime lead and didn't allow the Blue Demons (5-3) to get any closer the rest of the way.
DePaul shot 18-for-64 (28.1 percent).
All three of DePaul's losses have come against SEC teams. Tennessee and Vanderbilt also defeated the Blue Demons.
No.12 Michigan State 88, Oakland (Mich.) 57: Draymond Green had 19 points and 12 rebounds to help Michigan State (8-2) beat Oakland (4-5) in East Lansing.
