Movie director John Singleton, 39, once earned two Academy Award nominations for his 1991 debut film "Boyz N the Hood." That film also won him an MTV Movie Award as best new filmmaker. On the evening of August 24, the Oscar-nominate director accidentally struck and killed 57-year-old woman Constance Russell who suddenly stepped out in front of his 2001 Lexus SUV on Jefferson Boulevard in the Jefferson Park area of Los Angeles.
According to a preliminary police investigation, Singleton was not speeding at the time nor was he under the influence of alcohol or drugs. LAPD has concluded their investigation and determined that this is a "very, very unfortunate accident." John Singleton will not be cited for any violations. Source: EtOnline
