Monowi Nebraska is a village located in Boyd County in the United States. Although there were a population of more than 130 in 1930's, the village now only had a total population of 1 as a result the population emigration to big cities and death. The only remaining resident now living there is Elsie Eiler, whose husband Rudy Eiler died of cancer in 2004.
Although nearly abandoned, the town does have the 5000-volume Rudy's Library, founded in memory of Mr. Eiler and maintained by Mrs. Eiler. In addition, Mrs. Eiler runs a tavern in Monowi and draws regular customers from as far away as 80 miles.
