Tennis 2009: WimbledonFederer laid claim to be the greatest tennis player of all-time as he notched up his 15th Grand Slam title after he beat Andy Roddick in a 30 game, five set marathon. The women’s front too was loaded with the Williams sisters battling it out for supremacy and it was the time for the younger and more aggressive Serena to win the ladies crown.
Tennis 2009: Australian Open/ Crying Federer
The Australian Open started the year 2009 with a Grand Slam to say the least. Two of the world’s best players of the past decade, Rafael Nadal and Roger Federer began the festivities with a men’s final that rocked all senses. Rafa won in the end and it was the first time we saw the emotion on FedEx, fans all over the world got a glimpse of a shattered Federer crying after the loss. The sportsmanship of the two athletes could be seen in the presentation ceremony as Nadal hugged Federer and announced to all that he felt extremely bad for Federer.
