HANDS OF A FILIPINO FARMER

Filipinos are really talented in all aspects and one field we are specially excelling is photography. And such great talent shoudl not be taken into waste without being noticed.

This is the case of one great photographer by the name of Paolo Zalameda. In this regard, I would like to personally ask for all of you to support a great talent like him as he tries to compete for the top prize in the "National Geographic Channel Asia's Great Migrations" contest.

His entry aptly titled "Hands of A Filipino Farmer" is one prime example of exemplary photography. The message was sent across. He captured this picture in the best form possible. Here is an excerpt of how he describes this shot as posted in the National Geo official Facebook Page.

"I took this photo when I went to one of the rice fields in Bataan, Philippines for a fun shoot with friends. While friends are busy taking photos of themselves, I noticed a tired farmer sitting a few meters away from me with a rope on his hands. He just finished removing unwanted grasses from part of the 1 hectare field and has just finished moving the cows to feed them. Ironically, he harvests high grade rice, feeds healthy cows yet his family remains poor and hungry because he plows not his own land , feeds cows that are not his. While taking his photo, I was talking to him. I figured out he is a no-read, no-write farmer who struggles to have his eldest, out of 2 sons, finish schooling hoping he finishes at least high school to help his brother study. His being a farmer is not what he wants for his kids..."

Please support Paolo's entry

LANDSCAPE PHOTOGRAPHY

One of the more famous kind of photography is Landscape Photography. On every place you go there are subjects from which to take and be classified under landscape. Landscape photography is a genre intended to show different spaces within the world focusing on the presence of nature and those that are natular. Both the professional and the amateur can actually do this genre. This is one way photographers usually convey the message of how beautiful life and the world is.

Common subjects on landscape are mountain ranges, terrain, aerial views, shoreline, beaches and many other nature inspired subjects. Truly landscape photography captures the very essence of life. It mirrors life in its purest form - without any additions, without alterations. This is a true celebration of beauty. C'mon and let's marvel on the beauty of the world - captured through the lenses.

TAKE A SHOT

A lot of people are enjoying taking pictures. Aside from the fun of posing and all, it gives us a memento of what has happened. These are stuff we usually go back as days pass by and take a better look on. Pictures relay messages. They tell stories. They breathe life and express emotions.

While many people take pictures, we have not recognized the changes in the field of photography. We have a lot of means of clicking for photos. For the advance ones, the hobbyists and the professionals, we have the DSLR (Digital Single-lens Reflex)cameras. Then for those who want something handy, we have the digicams. Then there are numerous cellphones which offer good enough quality to click as well ranging from VGA to even 10-12 Megapixels.

So now, it's actually just a matter of choice on the device to use. Savor each event and each site. Make moments last. Take a click and smile through the lens.
