If the rumours are to be believed, there's bad blood between Vanessa Bryant, wife to Kobe, and Trina, Kenyon Martin's rapper girlfriend. Given the recent history of K-Mart's friends and family beefing with the opposition, most folks brushed the supposed spat off as much ado about nothing. With the two men going head-to-head in one of the more physical playoff series in recent memory, it's only natural that the battle lines should be drawn between their respective lady-friends.

Some are saying that there may be more to it than that, though. In a 2004 track titled "Heated", Trina makes a claim that would explain why Vanessa Bryant wants to crack open a can of bitchslap on her.

It's not exactly Shakespeare (and the beat sounds like the midi backing to a twelve-year-old's MySpace page), but the message is quite clear. If it is true, then, that Kobe Bryant cheated on his wife with Trina, it's understandable that Vanessa should be irked.

Bryant enjoyed a successful high school basketball career at Lower Merion High School, where he was recognized as the top high school basketball player in the country. He decided to declare his eligibility for the NBA Draft upon graduation, and was selected with the 13th overall pick in the 1996 NBA Draft by the Charlotte Hornets, then traded to the Los Angeles Lakers. As a rookie, Bryant earned himself a reputation as a high-flyer and a fan favorite by winning the 1997 Slam Dunk Contest.

Bryant continued to lead the defending champion Lakers as an elite team during the 2009–10 season. Of Bryant's notable contributions in the season, Bryant made a game-winning, buzzer-beating, one-legged three point shot against the Miami Heat on December 4. Bryant considered the shot one of the luckiest he has made. Bryant suffered an avulsion fracture in his right index finger in a game against the Minnesota Timberwolves on December 11.

Bryant enjoyed a successful high school basketball career and made instant headlines when he decided to go directly into the NBA upon graduation. He was selected with the 13th overall pick in the 1996 NBA Draft by the Charlotte Hornets, then traded to the Los Angeles Lakers. Bryant and then-teammate Shaquille O'Neal led the Lakers to three consecutive NBA championships from 2000 to 2002.

After O'Neal's departure following the 2003–04 season, Bryant became the cornerstone of the Lakers franchise. He led the NBA in scoring during the 2005–06 and 2006–07 seasons.[2] In 2006, Bryant scored a career high 81 points against the Toronto Raptors, the second highest number of points scored in a single game in NBA history, second only to Wilt Chamberlain's 100 point performance.

Bryant admitted an adulterous sexual encounter with the accuser, but denied the sexual assault allegation. In September 2004, prosecutors dropped the case after his accuser informed them that she was unwilling to testify. Bryant's accuser brought a separate civil suit against him that was ultimately settled out of court.
