Before getting down and serious with the actual games, there will be a concert held on June 10 at 8PM
South Africa local time (GMT +2). This concert will showcase various artists from around the world. Shakira will spearhead the
performance of the official World Cup song, “Waka Waka (This Time for Africa)”. She will be accompanied by Freshlyground a local music group.
Other artists that should be expected in the concert line-up are Alicia Keys, Angelique Kidjo, Amadou & Mariam,
Black Eyed Peas, Blk Jks, Hugh Masekela, John Legend, Juanes, K’Naan, Mzansi Youth Choir, Soweto Gospel Choir, The Parlotones, Tinariwen, Vieux Farka, Toure and Vusi Mahlasela.
The concert will last for 3 hours and its proceeds will go to “20 Centres for 2010”, the Official Campaign of the 2010 FIFA World Cup South Africa, which aims to build 20 centers across Africa offering education and
healthcare services as well as football training to disadvantaged communities.
