GLASGOW, Scotland (AP)—Charlie Mulgrew scored to give Aberdeen a 1-0 win over Dundee United in the Scottish Premier League on Saturday as 16 games over all four divisions were canceled due to heavy snow and freezing temperatures.
Mulgrew fired a left-footed shot into the bottom corner of the net from the edge of the penalty area in the 15th minute.
Aberdeen was reduced to 10 men when Davide Grassi was sent off in the 64th. It was Aberdeen’s seventh red card this season.
In the only other game played, St. Mirren beat Kilmarnock 1-0 thanks to Chris Innes’ headed goal in the 81st.
The Scottish Premier League games between Falkirk and St. Johnstone and Motherwell and Hamilton were postponed due to frozen pitches.
The big game of the weekend is Sunday’s Glasgow derby. League leader Rangers travels to second-place Celtic seven points clear at the top of the standings, having played a game more.
Rangers won 2-1 in the first match between the rivals in October and is in good form, scoring 20 goals in its last four games, including seven in Wednesday’s rout of Dundee United.
